A Newcomer to Washington Square Village

This is a blog about Washington Square Village, a superblock apartment complex, arrayed in “two slabs,” owned by NYU in Greenwich Village.  If Wikipedia is to be believed, it contains 1,292 apartments and–I’m just going to take a stab here–is home to more than 3000 people of all ages.  According to NYU Plans 2031 (very large pdf) the University is contemplating redevelopment strategies for the complex which will likely result in its demolition at some point in the next two decades.

I am a new transplant to WSV from West Philadelphia where I created a hyper-local news and culture blog around a neighborhood park called Malcolm X Memorial Park.  I am not directly affiliated with NYU, but my partner is serving a post-doc research appointment.
